Course Description

The VMware Certified Technical Associate (VCTA) - Security 2021 certification validates an individual's understanding of VMware's security solutions and the individual’s ability to provide entry-level support for the security features of VMware products, including NSX-T Data Center, Workspace ONE, and VMware Carbon Black Cloud.

To prepare for this credential, individuals should visit the VMware Customer Connect Learning hub to explore relevant prep materials, including videos, courses, and recorded webinars.

You can take the VCTA exam at either a Pearson VUE test center or at a home, office, or work location using the Pearson OnVue remote proctored solution. When registering for the exam, you will have the option of selecting your preference.

Who should complete this credential?

If you’d like to get your start in an IT career, a strong understanding of network security should be a top priority. Associate-level training will provide you with the skills and understanding you need to complete tasks typically encountered as an IT security technician, or as a helpdesk associate working in large virtual environments.

The VCTA - Security credential is for anyone new to the industry, from students with existing IT and computer science skills, to someone changing careers or working in the IT industry and looking for opportunities to advance.

Step-by-Step Guide to Begin Credential

Once you’ve had time to review the credential prep material and feel confident in your abilities, complete the following steps to obtain the credential:

  • Visit VMWare Learning and create an account
  • Once completed, you will be prompted to sync your Pearson VUE account and MyLearn Account to complete the credential sign up
  • Once you confirm single-sign-on, you’ll be able to select the course and how you’d like to proceed
  • Before proceeding, contact our NCBCE staff to see if you qualify to get the exam for free
