  • Must join or be an active member of Future Farmers of America
  • NC Private Pesticide Applicator
On-the-Job Learning
  • One of the following:
    • 100 Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE) for Juniors, 125 SAE hours for Seniors
    • 135 Hour WB03 Career Technical Education (CTE) Internship or CTE WBL Apprenticeship
High School Graduation
Apprenticeship (College)
Related Instruction
  • Community College Diploma or Associates in Horticulture
Paid On-the-Job Learning
  • Minimum 2000 hours paid work
Program Completion
  • High School Diploma
  • Professional Network & Mentors
  • Journey Worker’s Certificate

Options for Students Who Complete Youth Apprenticeship

Full-Time Employment

Youth pre-apprentices can start careers with valuable industry knowledge and experience.

Full-Time Education

Youth pre-apprentices can enroll full-time at postsecondary institutions to build on their college credits.

Employment & Education

Youth pre-apprentices can continue working and enroll in college courses to complete a degree.
